About me
My name is Doretta Archondaki,
I am a jewelry designer with roots in Crete and based in Athens, Greece.
The seed of my brand was planted on a childhood hike with my grandfather in the ancient Cretan mountains. At the edge of a cliff, I looked out over a vast, breathtaking vista. It was the first time I understood nature’s grandeur. Beside me stood a wild apple tree, watching the same view every day of its century-long life. I remember wanting to become an apple hanging from its branches, forever part of that endless horizon. That moment, I wished I was an Apple Named D.
My love for nature persisted, and translated into my art. Nature’s elements, its creations, its changeability. I noticed a duality that became the foundation of my creative process. A co-existence of opposites. Expressing the soft with the powerful, the fine with the bold, I create within the thin line that connects them.
My designs play between the see-saw of being dainty and big, between quiet lines and bold curves. Worn to make a statement or accompany you on a walk around town.
My creative process is never pre-determined. When I think of a stone, a metal, a shape, I let my intuition, my emotions and the memory of that love guide my hand. My collections are the uninhibited expression of creativity, expressed in free-form. I don’t consider the marks of a tool as an imperfection, I embody it as part of a process that is alive, and intuitively hand driven.
I design pieces of free-form and hope to share them with you in hope that they will become a part of your life, your memories.
